John Kellenyi, age 64 – “The Million Dollar Man”
John was a financial analyst for 30 years and retired in 2003. He was introduced to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 1999 when he ran the Marine Corps Marathon as a Team In Training Participant. At that time he had no connection to blood cancer victims but has since lost 3 friends. “The loss of Jay McCabe, Marge Gero & Pete Burg makes me relentless in supporting LLS.”
Since his first event, John has become the all time TNT top fundraiser, having raised over $1.3 million from his marathon efforts. While John has made a huge impact on the TNT program, he has also been greatly involved in the success of LLS locally as well as nationally. He was the Vice Chair of the National LLS Board of Representatives and is currently President of the New Jersey Chapter Board.
John, who turns 65 next summer, knows the Ironman challenge will be daunting but it pales in comparison to the challenges blood cancer patients confront each and every day.
